In the late spring, a number of staff and clients of the Milford NeuroAdvancE office joined forces to raise funds for the national Multiple Sclerosis Society. A 10 K (6.2 miles) walk was held at west Point on the Hudson River with the understanding that the participants would pledge money per mile as a donation. Eight weeks before the event, three staff members and three clients began their training schedules, gradually increasing their mileage each week until the walk. At the same time, they petitioned local businesses and friends for sponsorship. High in spirits and energy, the NeuroAdvancE team joined over 1,000 fellow walkers on a dreary day in April, enjoying the sights on the military school's magnificent campus. A great success for all six entrants, they not only finished the walk in admirable time but NeuroAdvancE staff and clients raised $500 for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. With a pledge to better their time and donation next year, the NeuroAdvancE team committed to seeking more events like the MS Walk where they can not only enjoy a healthy day of physical activity but make a small difference in the lives of others.
